It seems more and more, that title companies here in Logan Utah are competing for the business that we as Realtors bring to them, via our clients. So I asked myself, what do I want in a title company? Not just for me, but for my clients, because what I ultimately care about is how they feel after they have left the signing table and their buying or selling experience is done. Below are a few things that I came up with:
- Professional – My clients have to know that you care about what you do, and your office should reflect that.
- Personable – I would hope that my clients would be able to hold a conversation with the closer. I think that helps to relax them about the large decision they are making to buy or sell their home.
- Courteous – My clients should be treated as a guest would be treated in your home.
- Punctual – When all is said and done, the buyer wants to move in and the seller wants the money. So a title company should not waste time in getting the loan funded, funds distributed and paperwork recorded.
Those are just a few things that I think are important for me and my clients when choosing a title company. Now, I want to mention one additional thing that has recently come about, at least here in Northern Utah, and that is electronic signing. There is a title company that has begun offering what is called Sure-close, which allows for the buyer or seller to review all the documents on-line, and when the time comes for them to sign, they do it once on a touchscreen computer and all paperwork is then filled in with that one signature or initial. For anyone who has purchase a car or a home, we know how much paperwork is involved. Sure-close would make everyones life easier while accomplishing the important things mentioned above.
So title companies, take note and make sure you are catching up with the times. Real estate in Logan Utah has been good to you, time to return the favor.
